About Sasang-gu

Sprawling on the east bank of the Nakdonggang River, Sasang-gu is a leafy residential district in Busan and within easy access to the city’s sights. It’s home to a riverside park, cultural museums and mountain hiking trails while it’s also a convenient base for accessing Gimhae International Airport.

Things to do in Sasang-gu

If you’re interested in the lifestyle of the local residents, visit the Sasang Life Museum, which houses displays of local artefacts, old photographs and handicrafts. Learn about Sasang-gu’s role as an industrial hub and the improvements that have been made in recent years to enhance the area’s natural environment. In the Culture Zone, you can try your hand at traditional Korean games, such as the “flying rubber shoes” game.

On the banks of the Nakdonggang River is Samnak Ecological Park, which encompasses grassy fields, wildflower meadows and marshes that provide important habitat for migratory birds. Several walking trails wind their way through the park and there are more than 60 exercise machines for visitors to use. Coincide your visit with the springtime to see the park’s cherry trees in bloom.

For a more challenging trek, you can follow one of the hiking trails that ascend Baekyangsan Mountain, which offers sweeping views across Sasang-gu. Blanketed in pine and cypress trees, Baekyangsan is also home to the Buddhist temple of Unsusa. Admire the floral door of Daeungbojeon Hall and the ancient Buddhist statues that dot its grounds before ringing the bell of Beomjonggak Pavilion.

Getting around Sasang-gu

Sasang-gu is around 45 minutes’ by train from Busan Station and 30 minutes from Gimhae International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Asia. Both trains and subway services connect to Sasang Station while buses travel throughout the district, connecting most of its attractions.
